Picking

Pinpoint Warehouse:Solutions organize picking tasks to maximize efficiency and accuracy
Operator selection for picking is based on equipment restrictions, warehouse zones, and traffic patterns. Depending on your specific requirements, you may choose to sector your warehouse into zones where multiple pickers will cooperatively build an order or you may choose to have a single picker retrieve all of the items in a single order. In either scenario, the picker will be directed to a warehouse location through an action task on the RF unit. Once there, the location is confirmed by scanning a location label and the quantity to be picked is displayed. The operator confirms the quantity on the number pad and is then directed to the next task.

If for any reason the quantity picked does not conform with the quantity requested, the operator must enter a reason for the difference. These reasons could include insufficient stock, a full load, a blocked aisle, or another user-defined reason. An insufficient stock code will inform the warehouse manager and initiate a count action that can be escalated to recount all locations in the warehouse that contain the same product.

A full load code will result in the operator being directed to the next staging area and then continuing the pick as the next task.

Pinpoint Warehouse:Solutions will dynamically create zones based on picking activity to balance the load across your warehouse staff. In this way, a zone-based pick and pass environment will see each picker receive approximately the same number of picks and maintain a consistent fulfillment speed across the warehouse floor.

Equipment restrictions are identified according to location and/or product. When operators sign in, they identify which equipment they have access to and then only tasks capable of being accomplished with that equipment will be assigned to them.

Warehouse traffic patterns are determined to maximize efficiency and safety. When an order is "dropped", the individual picking tasks are organized to follow these established traffic patterns.
