Functionality
Pinpoint WMS is a complete warehouse management solution to help you build efficiency and accuracy. Using RF-based bar code terminals or kiosk computers, Pinpoint can move your warehouse to a completely paperless operation
Receiving, picking, internal and intra-warehouse replenishment, labeling, counting, put-away, QA, shipping, and many other tasks can be immediately improved with Pinpoint WMS.
Receiving
Pinpoint customers appreciate the receiving functionality for its depth and flexibility. When shipments arrive unexpectedly, warehouse staff need to be able to shift into receiving mode instantly and receive product using an RF terminal or a PC.
- Flexible receiving procedures allow users to walk around a pallet entering quantities as they are scanned
- Quantity or product variances can be automatically communicated back to the host system for faster resolution.
- Built in QA processes can automatically send damaged and unrecognized product to quarantined areas for managing separately.
- "Blind Receiving" allows for unexpected deliveries and returns to be processed immediately.
- "Direct Putaway" allows users to put product away immediately following receiving - a great feature when the warehouse is cramped in the receiving area.
- Product can be received directly against the PO vs the packing slip.
Put-away
Pinpoint users can optimize performance using multiple stocking methodologies: Direct, Random, or Sorted put-away logic. Either; load the pallet/tote and put away the product as it is scanned, or scan the product and put it away as you follow an optimized travel path
- Multiple stocking methodologies are supported including Directed, Random and Sorted put-away logic
- Incoming stock can be directed to a primary picking area, a bulk storage area or a random storage location
- Items can be stored in multiple bins in various forms (each, case, pallet) to be internally replenished as required
- As each product is stored the product and location are automatically verified by the scan of a barcode
- "Reserves" can be used to keep product that must be reserved for a select customer in a separate area
Picking
Picking is one of the more time-consuming processes in a warehouse. Pinpoint customers have realized incredible time and efficiency savings using embedded warehouse management technologies listed below.
- Order priorities are imported from the host and/or managed locally on a simple drag and drop screen
- Picking tasks are assigned to operators according to equipment requirements following efficient floor planning models
- Single or multiple order picking process are fully supported
- Wave picking, Pick and Pass logic is also available
- Lot or serial number capture can be executed during the picking process with all quantities and product accuracies ensured through barcode scanning
- Out of stock or insufficient quantities can generate a count task so that discrepancies are dealt with immediately
- Orders are staged for packing/shipping through a barcode scan, allowing the operator to move forward with the next order quickly
- Marshalling picks can be used to pick case/pallet quantities of a large pick that must be broken down for multiple smaller picks for store direct quantities (SDQ's) or bill of materials (BoM's)
Counting
Pinpoint counting functionality is flexible, robust, and auditable. Every type of count logic is supported, and the audit trail is unparalleled.
- Bins are automatically cycle counted upon being emptied. This is a count of "zero" qty and saves counting that bin again
- High velocity items are counted more often to eliminate high variance probability
- Cycle count is fully logged to ensure acceptance by auditors
- Operators can be assigned to count/not count according to individual
- Regular physical counting is fully supported.
Internal Bin Replenishment
Pinpoint supports the logic of "forward picking" areas to accommodate the 20% of products that are shipped 80% of the time.
- Forward picking areas can be established using logic to define high velocity product
- Forward pick bins are Unit of Measure (UofM) specific and automatically replenished according to minimum and maximum quantity/bin rules
- Replenishment tasks can be scheduled to slow periods to ensure uninterrupted picking operations
- Replenishment tasks can be interleaved with other tasks to minimize warehouse traffic.
Quality Assurance (QA)
Optional QA process can be configured to occur at receiving or shipping stages. Full quarantining and RMA disposition functionality ensure proper visibility and management of non-performing product.
- Optional QA process at receiving ensures visibility of inbound stock and proper disposition and RMA process
- Final QA at shipping ensures contents and piece count
- Discrepant shipments are hospitalized and dealt with individually
- Order information is communicated to host after QA
- Compliance labelling printed following QA verification.
Labeling
Whether you use technical schematics, 2D bar-codes, compliance labels, PO' #s, or customer-specific labels, Pinpoint supports all of them:
- Product or Licence Plate label printing supported at multiple points in the process including receiving, QA, picking, packaging, or shipping
- All barcode types are supported including UCC128, MH10, UPC, EPC, GTIN etc
- Any data from the host system can be used to populate labels
Shipping
The improvements our customers experience in shipping are generally the most financially impressive. Automation in the shipping department saves money: pure and simple.
- Configure and automate "lane-based" setups (typically for parcel shipments), or "consolidated" setups (where shipments must be assembled from multiple staged picks). Pinpoint also supports combinations thereof.
- Integrate with most major carriers for weights and waybill numbers
- Save more shipping dollars using integrated Carrier Rate Shopping software.
- If needed, Pinpoint supports ‘repacking' and will keep track of box contents for ASN's and UCC128's
Reporting & Dashboarding
Pinpoint ships with a full fleet of standard reports and a world-class report writer. The warehouse manager's dashboard is a customizable display of current warehouse performance.
- Standard reports provide useful information on worker productivity for every task, every minute of the day.
- A "task management" screen provides the warehouse manager with a simple view of the day's tasks and productivity.
- Use our built-in report writer to write your own reports or customize the standard reports and email alerts.
