The concept of license plates is central to any computer based warehouse system
A license plate is a temporary bar-code associated with any movable container within the warehouse. Pallets, totes, boxes, or any other container must be registered if they contain inventory, for this allows the software to know exactly where everything is at all times.
As inventory is added or removed from the container, it is either associated to or disassociated from the license plate. The license plate allows the operators to communicate the movement of large amounts of inventory with a single scan. During put-away, an operator will pick up a license-plated full pallet of one or dissimilar products with a single scan. As the items are dropped off, they will be relocated in Pinpoint Warehouse:Solutions to their final storage location.
During the picking process, the operator will identify the container being picked with a license plate and add products to it as system tasks direct. At any time, a license-plated load can be abandoned, yet when it is retrieved, the system will know the detail of its contents right down to serial numbers where applicable.
